Montana Sports Betting
In December 2018, two Montana lawmakers announced they were drafting bills ahead of the 2019 session that would allow internet and mobile sports betting and kiosks at bars, restaurants and taverns.
In April 2019, two separate sports betting bills (SB 330 and HB 725) passed through the Senate and landed on the desk of Democratic Gov. Steve Bullock. The difference between the two bills is which agency would act as the regulatory body. If both bills become law, there would be two different types of kiosks. One would be regulated by the lottery commission, and the other by the office of the attorney general.
In May 2019, Gov. Bullock signed H 725 to officially make sports betting legal.
